Cabernet Sauvignon is the world's most widely planted grape varietal and also the world's most recognizable red wine. While is was long suspected, it wasn't until 1996 that a UC Davis scientist, Carole Meredith, proved that Cabernet Sauvignon was indeed the offspring of the two famous varietals Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. Come and explore why Cabernet Sauvignon is the king of grapes and why it makes great, drinkable and age worthy wines.
